Curriculum tasks on a 'Homework Map' are set in addition to the activities listed above, these are not compulsory but an opportunity for further exploration of the foundation subjects. Children are invited to bring any additional work into school to share.

Reading Records

Children from Reception - Year 6 are provided with a reading record and a reading book matched closely to their reading ability. Children are encouraged to read daily where possible with the minimum of three times a week. Parents/Carers and children are asked to record comments on reading each time they read at home. KS2 children are expected to develop greater independence in completing this.

Text Talk bookmarks are provided for every child in KS2. These bookmarks assist carers and children with the types of questions to ask and answer whilst completing reading at home, to help develop reading skills and a deeper understanding of a text.

Spellings

As a school we use EdShed spellings to teach spellings. Children from Reception - Year 6 are provided with personal logins to access this at home.

KS1 children will focus on phonics and some spelling rules. KS2 children will access a range of spelling rules, patterns and challenging words.
